June 22nd - The "poking" scripture

Good afternoon!

Last Saturday I received my last transfer call ):.... and I will dying here in Vieux-Fort St. Lucia training a new missionary!! His name is Elder Page and all I know is that he is from a America.  President Mehr has asked that I finish my mission strong as the District Leader as well.  It is a real blessing to be able to be a leader on the mission. I am grateful for the trust the Lord has in me to lead his people here.  I find a lot of joy and  satisfaction by serving others and helping them in their work.  That is the essence of leadership, to give of yourself so others can become even as you and more.  The quintessential leader we know to be is the Savior! I am excited to labor for  the last 7 weeks I have on my mission.

Thank you mom for being a good member missionary.  That is part of being a "full purpose missionary" 1. Baptism & Confirmation 2. Retention 3. Reactivation.  The brethren has urged each of us to keep our eyes gazed towards the temple.  Where the "sheaves will be gathered into the garners" (Alma 26:6).

I wish to share an experience I had this past Friday while teaching one of our investigators name Beverly. Very amenable.  She comes from a strange religion called Bahi? (I know I spelt that wrong). We taught about the Plan of Salvation and when we got to the point where we were talking about the Celestial Kingdom I felt prompted to share a scripture from Alma 7:14 speaking about baptism.  Before hand I shared a short statement of doctrine then had her read the verse.  Afterwards she looked at me funny and said "I felt something weird as I read that" I asked her "have you ever felt that feeling before?" "no, never" she replied.  By that we taught about the role of the Holy Ghost and how it can confirm spiritual truths through our thoughts, feelings and impressions of  our heart.  I love what she said at the end of the lesson, "that scripture is still poking me Elder Brown!" haha.

DAD!!  Happy Belated fathers day! As I was working yesterday I had you in mind and was reflecting on all the times I had with you. Your voice still pierces me when I hear the word "son".  I owe all my good manners and etiquette skills and good looks to you dad! (Mom rolling her eyes lol)  I have really seen how bad some missionaries are with that and sometimes I even have to correct them at the dinner table. haha So many other things I wish to say but that would take up all my email time.  I love you dad!

Well family and friends I hope you all have a great and safe week!

With love,

Elder BrownT
