April 21st: The hidden treasure

Good afternoon family!

Oh wow, you're friends with Michelle on FB?  Yes, Elder Hatch and I taught her in my first area.  She's a funny lady.  She's living with her elderly mother and her mother is a staunch Catholic, she wouldn't allow Michelle to be baptized.  Michelle also has a fear of water, but we tried our best with her, but may be another missionary will come along and baptize her.  I'm glad to hear she's going to church and that the missionaries will be visiting with her.  I'm glad that we sort of influence her in some  small ways.

Sad to hear of the passing of Trudy:( Mom I am so grateful I had a chance to get to know her and talked with her.  She's in a much better place, I will miss her.

Every day I think of how blessed I am to be able to consecrate 2 years of my life to serve the Lord.  What better place to be but to be here in the West Indies to do the work that's required of me to do.  I love this gospel, I wake up every morning feeling excited about it.

Answers to your questions Mom:  Yes Cindy has been baptized!  Yes I received my package and thank you grandma and Papa for the "Highly effective Missionary" book.  I carry it with me all the time.  So many different skills being taught and shared, but like you said Mom, all those don't matter if charity and love are not in my heart.  My weight is 215 and still never missed a morning of exercise except Sunday.  I feel healthier and stronger and stronger every day.  There's just one computer that we have to share.  It takes forever to upload photos and that's why I don't always send pictures.  I'll be lucky if I can get one picture to go through, that's how slow the internet here, besides I have to consider my time to share with my companion and other people who need to use the computer.  I'll do better next time and try to send some more pictures, but if I don't you know why.

Yesterday all the missionaries from various zones attended a play that was put together by the Stake, "The Savior of the World."  It was very nice.  After the program, on our way out, some of the Elders from other zones came up and asked if I could write them a diet and exercise plan lol.  I guess our physical being gotta balance out with our spiritual being.  It's no joke, if you're planning to go on a mission but not physically fit, oh you will be hanging, especially if you'll be called to serve out of USA.

Oh here's something exciting, last week during one of our findings, we met a very sweet family, the Ramlal.  They appeared to be interested in what we had to share.  The father can't read and so we made it a goal to teach him how to read.  After we taught our first discussion, they offered us lunch (good nah bai).  Tomorrow we're planning to extend an invitation to baptism!

Just before I started writing to you guys, I was pondering about how much I've learned from the scriptures.  I often caught myself being surprised with how much I've acquired in my life and how I am able to share the knowledge I've learned from the scriptures.  So my advice to all of you, keep studying the SCRIPTURES, THERE YOU WILL FIND HIDDEN TREASURES…. just like me:)

Love,
Elder Brown
