Fefe hake famili?
I have been wearing my Tongan name tag and people are more fascinated to know about the Church when I wear it. First they are curious about the meaning of my name tag and that leads to a gospel conversation and getting their contact information.
We watched conference at the Grande ward, unfortunately, the internet is slow here but we were able to listen to it on live audio. I am so grateful to be able to listen to the words of our inspired speakers and that was all that matters. I love Elder Ballard's talk about "following up." It applies to missionary work perfectly. In the Caribbean, it's so normal for people to forget everything you've taught them. We would talk to them the next day, and they have forgotten everything that was taught the other day lol…funny people! But listening to Elder Ballard has really moved us to not give up and follow up.
Another talk I really liked was President Monson on "LOVE." Just like what you said to me Mom in your last email. It's so true, when you show love to others, they will remember that for eternity. You're right Mom, I've been thinking about that, it isn't about the number of people we can baptize, but if we can bring just one soul, imagine what that one person can do down the road. I know if I continue to thrust in my sickle with all of my heart, I will be able to reap the fruits of my labor (DC 11:4)
Tomorrow is our Zone conference and I am super excited about it. Remember when I told you before about that challenge given to us by President Mehr? Yup, I am going to recite by heart 42 scripture references and 10 scriptures. I am so ready! I have definitely grown so much in this work especially when I am able to memorize all these scriptures, I find it a lot easier and more meaningful to teach the discussion. Just like the scripture says in DC 11:21: "Seek not to declare my word, but seek first to obtain my word and then shall your tongue be loosed; then, if you desire, you shall have my Spirit and my word, yea, the power of God unto the convincing of men."
You know what I could hardly wait to do when I get back? Man, I can't wait to do home teaching and be able to hold a ward calling and even go out with the Elder missionaries. I think it would be so cool to be a Young Men president, I'll get the boys spiritually fit but even more like physically fit haha! Just the other day, 2 Elder missionaries called me if I can write them up a meal and an exercise plan to follow haha…I guess part of my mission here is getting people fit:)
Good luck to Lawrence trying out for the Graduation speech and everything….I think he'll make it, he's good at what he does.
I love this gospel! It's so amazing what the mission can do for you!
Well, that's it for now till next time family!
'Ofa lahi atu,
