Good afternoon family!
How excited I was when I was looking through the pictures from your trip! I have probably seen the Joseph Smith movie over 20 times throughout my mission and every time I watch it I wish I could go and see where he died for myself. Perennially teaching the Message of the Restoration never gets old, it's my favorite lesson to teach because you can relate it to so many things. I have developed the skill to teach simply and I can testify that the more simple you teach a point of a doctrine, the more people will understand and the spirit will bear witness that it's true. I will probably one day going to visit Navoo but with my future wife:) haha! (Mom's reaction - feeling annoyed) haha!
Missionary work is going great here in Trinidad. We don't get to teach as much as when I was in Guyana because our area is huge so we have to optimize our area and vary routes that we need to take every day. Here's an experience my companion and I had last Thursday. Elder Guzman and I went out finding early in the afternoon and Eld. Guzman was prompted to go by and check on a family they taught a while back. When we got there the mother, Joy, just arrived so it was perfect timing for us. She kindly invited us into her garage and she asked that we teach her about our faith.
We started out with an opening prayer and right after that, I felt strongly to share about the Plan of Salvation. I opened to Alma 34:35 and invited her to read it, then she looked at us with tears running down her cheeks, she said, "Brothers I need to repent more." "Then let us help you take those steps of repentance and we will guide you to live in accordance to God's commandments," I said. We then continued to teach her about some gospel doctrines and we both testified to her of the truthfulness of the BOM.
My testimony of the BOM has grown expeditiously and I'm sure I've mentioned this almost every letters I've written. I wish I read it more often and took it to heart more seriously before I started my mission. I did have a testimony of the BOM before I left, but now it's much stronger than ever before. It's my counsel to every youth to read and study this book before they go on their mission. I thank you Mom and Dad for teaching me the gospel to a point where I am able to stand on my own and witness of what I have been taught my whole life.
Thank you so much for your unconditional love and support. I pray for you all daily and I know the Lord is always there for each of you, hope you recognize his love and his hands in all things.
I wish to leave with you another of my favorite scripture in DC 31:9-13: "Be patient in afflictions, revile not against those that revile. Govern your house in meekness, and be steadfast. Behold I say unto you that you shall be a physician unto the Church, but not unto the world, for they will not receive you. Go your way whithersoever I will, and it shall be given you by the Comforter what you shall do and whither you shall go. Pray always, lest you enter into temptation and lose your reward. Be faithful unto the end, and lo, I am with you. These words are not of man nor of men, but of me, even Jesus Christ, your Redeemer, by the will of the Father Amen."
Well family I hope every one has a good and safe week! Till' next time:)
With love,
Elder Brown
