A beautiful day to you family!
Right now I am sipping on cold water while enjoying the beautiful view of Tobago! That's why I didn't write yesterday because we had to fly out to Tobago (15 mins flight) for some assignments. Elder Gusman and I went on splits with the elders who are working here and helping our new Senior couple missionaries, Elder & Sister Goddard with their computer and getting things organized. We spent a lot of time on typing up report as well. Part of my responsibilities as I mentioned before is to oversee and be responsible for 5 companionship. One of the things I've come to learn and understand is, as a leader you're representing President Mehr in carrying out the work, you become the President's eyes, years and mouth. But more importantly, Jesus Christ is the main man that you represent.
I am thrilled and so happy for the winning of WX over Bountiful for the 3rd time in a row. I take pride in our year when we beat Bountiful after 23 years....I think we have set the tone for the younger generations to come haha! Congrats Wildcats!
My prayers have been answered....you know why? Bishop Roupa asked me to give a talk the week after General Conference (same Sunday as Lawrence farewell...wow we will be speaking at the same time:) and I have been pondering upon on what to speak on. When your letter came in Mom, you shared exactly what I have been thinking about. I am so grateful that you shared Bishop Po'uha's testimony with me. As I sat in my room pondering, I was caught up in a vision haha jk I wish I could have cool visions. Anyways, the members here in Couva are church going people but that's all, a lot of them are just comfortable with what they are accustomed to just like what you shared about Bishop's talk regarding those fishermen who only fish where they were comfortable. The members are very similar to these fishermen. I will also touch on how they can help with missionary work and add a few more from Uchdorf's talk and some of my own that would make my talk efficacious haha!
Man I can't believe the time has come for Lawrence to enter into the Holy Temple and experience the Spirit of the Lord there. I pray that he will understand the covenants he will be making behind those sacred walls.
This past week went by so quickly. Elder Guzman and I worked really hard to build up our teaching pool with solid investigators. Each of our investigators that we have taught have committed to baptism and our next step is setting a date and helping them attend General Conference.
One struggle we had this past week was a family we're currently working with, the Rampersaud (family of 4). They seemed very promising to attend church and such but last minute excuses came up so we had to plan for another day to see them. But the good news was, we didn't give up, we continued to do follow up and guess what? They said that they have been reading the BOM and praying. So, we are hoping to see them again this coming Thursday and set a baptism date with them.
Well family that's all for this week, I will send you some sweet pictures from Tobago next week. Have a great week everyone!:)
With love,
Elder Brown
