Good afternoon everyone!
Right now the rain is pouring down on us. I guess that's a good thing because this past week has been super hot, but not as hot as Guyana though!
Thank you Mom for sending me all those talks and pictures. Usually when I don't have enough time on the computer to read all the emails from you guys, I take a picture of the computer screen and read it later when we get back to our apartment!
I am so excited to give my talk this Sunday. I will have everything finalized on Friday for sure. Wow, that's interesting that Lawrence and I will be speaking on the same day and time but in different parts of the world. Good luck on your talk Lawrence! Oh yeah that would be great if you send me the 4 arms talk...thanks!
Well, congrats again WX team! So proud of them! As far as the suit, I will have it tailored right before I return and yes Mom I am still size 34. As far as the food, we do get to eat at members homes in this area and they make tons of food.
Yeah conference was on point! My favorite one was Elder Richard D. Scott's talk when he touched on the 4 tools that strengthen our faith against adversary. In case you have forgotten here are the 4 tools haha!:
1. Prayer
2. Study the scriptures
3. Family home evening
4. Go to the Temple
Well my time in Tobago was awesome. I enjoyed working and helping other missionaries in my Zone. My love for the work has increased ever since I have been given this calling as a Zone Leader. Oh while I was there, I had an opportunity to go on split with a greeny Elder from Utah, Elder Horsely, an 18 year old kid just like Lawrence. Man this young Elder has such a great attitude towards missionary work. I truly admire his diligence and strict obedience to the Lord. I pray Lawrence will have the same mind set like this new missionary, oh and Lawrence make sure to "hit the road and run" as President Mehr would say!
Last Wednesday we had our MLC (Missionary Leadership Council) meeting. Man it was awesome! We discussed a lot of the challenges our Zone were facing and how we can help our missionaries bring more souls to the Lord. Pres. Mehr spoke about how we need to activate our spiritual endorphins (a chemical compound pain killer). So the only way to activate this is by physical exercise. He then urged us to make sure we are doing our 30 min morning workout because it will activate our spiritual endorphins which will give us that extra strength to do the will of the Lord.
Last Friday, I had another opportunity to go on splits with Elder Hatch (remember my first companion, the one that trained me whose also now the AP). Man I learned so much from him and I asked him for advice on how to improve my personal study, he showed me a few things and I will be following his study method this week and see it how that goes.
Oh, you will love this story.....this past week, Elder Guzman and I went out finding while waiting for Elder Hatch & Telga to arrive. After calling into a few houses, we met this man who was probably a little drunk. We spoke with him but he pointed to another house and said, "go see she," lol. So we did as he said, there we met a sweet woman, Elizabeth and she kindly invited us to sit in her gallery. She explained to us that she wasn't happy and doesn't know why she felt that way. For a moment I pondered upon what to say to her. At first, I thought of the Restoration but then another feeling came upon me to tell her about the BOM. But after our prayer, I used the last bullet point from how to begin teaching in Preach my Gospel. She quickly stopped me and started to mumble under her breath, "baptism by proper authority?....that's exactly what I need." She looked up at us and said, "I think you guys were led by the Lord to see me, this is exactly what I need."
Then Elder Guzman related the BOM really well to her and from the look on her face, I could tell that she enjoyed the discussion very much. Near the end of our lesson, her 11 year old son came in and she looked at him and said, "son we are going to be baptized on October 25th. Truly amazing how the Lord works in mysterious ways.
Well family, I hope you all have a great week and eat all the yummy food for me on Lawrence's farewell dinner:)
With love,
Elder Brown
