February 17th: Home Teaching!

Good afternoon everyone!

It's so good to see all the family supporting the play of Aida.  Wow! When does the play ever going to end…haha!  Well, congratulations to Tana for her marvelous role in the play, sounds like she's doing an amazing job.  Hope you have recorded it so I can watch it when I return.  When does Papa and grandma start their mission?

Just this week, I was pondering much about HOME TEACHING.  I miss those good ole' times when I used to go with Dad and Papa and do home teaching.  I know there were times when I wasn't so motivated to do this assignment, but every time I went, I remember feeling really good sharing the message with the families we visited.  I am so grateful that I did home teaching.

Home teaching here in the Caribbean is very weak.  We are working very hard with the members to get that up and running.  Not only we're doing missionary work, we are also trying to help the members understand their responsibilities to one another.  I hope everyone is doing their home teaching and visiting teaching, it sure changes lives.

As for my new companion, his name is Elder Schroeder.  He is an awesome missionary.  He is from San Diego, California.  He's a really good teacher and he knows his scriptures very well, in fact, he reminds me of my very first companion, Elder Hatch.  I hope to learn a lot from him this transfer.

This week we have been working with a sweet family, it's the family that invited us to that "crazy" church I told you about last week lol.  The wife, Sherry, she's a bible scholar and her husband, Steven is a Bible teacher for their church.  When we talk to them about our Church, their children love listening to us.  So far, they have been taking in our discussions very well, except they have a lot of questions.  Tomorrow, we will see them and we're expecting to invite them to be baptized and set a date for them.

This is pretty much the highlight of our week.  I hope that everyone is still reading their BOM!  One of my all time favorite scriptures is found in 1 Peter 3:15 and it reads, "But sanctify the Lord God in your Hearts; and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear."

So my question that I leave with you is, "ARE YOU READY?"

Have a great week everyone.  Laytah!

Love,
Elder Brown
