May 5th - Transfer to GUYANA!!

A very good morning to you family!

Before I tell you all about my week, I want to share with you the good news of receiving my transfer call last Friday and guess where I am going??? GUYANA!  I will be serving with my boy, Elda Felix, remember him? The little short St. Lucian elder I took pictures with back in Diego Martin.  I am super excited to be working with him and the people of Guyana.  Well, from what I've been hearing, the work in Guyana is explosive!  Member-work is incredible and missionaries are baptizing people there…I am so super pumped up!

I've also heard that Guyana is super cheap there.  Many people go there to buy gold!  One day you'll see me with a fat gold tooth like the Tongans…haha jk!

Congratulations to Lawrence for the first step he is making in the process to serve the Lord.  I can't wait to know where he will be serving, but I am making a prediction….LAWRENCE WILL BE SERVING IN TONGA!

Answers to your questions Mom:  Whether I sometimes feel discouraged?  Honestly, there have been a few times when I felt a little discouraged, just because some of the people that we've taught struggled to commit to be baptized.  But whenever I start to feel the discouragement creeping up, I immediately say a little prayer in my heart and repeat in my head "OH LORD SOFTEN MY HEART, OH LORD SOFTEN MY HEART, OH LORD SOFTEN MY HEART."  Immediately I testify how I could easily brush it off and things start to pick up and I am good to go!  As I've mentioned in one of my previous letters, discouragement weakens your ability to serve the Lord, and MUST not give into that, for it's the sharpest tool Satan uses to stop God's work here on earth.

Yes Mom, we're still in the process of teaching Kim and hoping to set a baptismal date very soon.  Daniel is sick right now:(  The Suepaul feeds us very often and I am going to miss their food:(  Well, my daily shoes is so worn out and if you don't mind Mom please put a little bit of money in the card so I can buy one asap.  I don't want to use my Church shoes…sorry for burdening you Mom.

Oh guess what?  Last P-day, we got special permission from Pres. Mehr to go turtle watching!  It was a 3 hours drive to where the turtles were.  We got there at 7 pm and didn't get home until 2:30 am.  The catch was, Pres. Mehr said we could turtle watch as long as we still get up the next day at our usual time 6:30 am and continue with our normal routine and missionary schedule.  Boy, I was super tired during findings and teaching our discussions.

About these turtles….AWESOME!  We saw a lot of leather-back turtles, they were HUUUGE and OOOOLD.  They dated up to the times of the Dinosaurs if I remember right.  Sorry my pictures aren't clear cause we couldn't use flash cause it would have scared them away.  Our guide used red light instead, that doesn't scare them away.

Now I leave with you a scripture that I've been pondering upon this week found in Alma 36:27--"And I have been supported under trials and troubles of every kind, yea, and in all manner of afflictions; yea, God has delivered me from prison, and from bonds, and from death; yea and I do put my trust in him, and he will still deliver me."

Incredible story from Danny and love hearing from cousin Max!

I am excited to see you all next week from GUYANA!!!  May you all have a great week!

With love,
Elder Brown
