July 7th - 3 P's to Fasting

Hello family!:)

Man this week has gone by so fast!  Last night I just realized that it's P-day tomorrow!  haha.  Aww man the day is close at hand where you and Dad will be home alone:(  Don't be sad Mom!

Wow the ice challenge, that's crazy!  They should do an ice challenge every day here in Guyana cause it's so super hot!

So the reason why I got the money out is because I bought a gold ring!  As you can see from the pictures I sent.  Gold is really cheap here.  A lot of the missionaries ordered their gold ring from President Kirton.  Even lot of people like tourists buy tons of gold from here cause it's so cheap.  My ring is a lion head and he's going to put diamonds in the eyes ruby in the mouth.  He should be done making it within a week.

Tell Vake I will keep him in my prayers.  He's such a funny kid and I love him dearly!

Well this week has been awesome.  We have been working a lot with the less-actives and teaching them about the law of fasting.  Speaking of that, how are you guys doing with fasting?  Remember the first time we skyped, I talked to you guys about the 3 P's to fasting:

1.  Preparation
2.  Prayer
3.  Purpose

We tied the 3 P's to fasting with the scripture in Helaman 3:35..."As they fasted and prayed oft in their humility and firmer and firmer in the faith of Christ."  President Mehr counseled us during our fast that we ponder and pray about our purpose in fasting.

Fasting is easy until the last 4 hours it's when you feel the hardest time and that's when your faith begins to show and when your faith is at the strongest, then revelation comes through.  I testify that it's true.  Try it and you will receive personal revelation to the purpose of your fasting.  I've mentioned this before, the missionaries here been challenged to reach 600 baptisms by the end of the year.  That's the purpose of my fast is to find more missionary opportunities to teach and baptize.

This week we are working hard with Nigel and Damien Gilbert, both 9 year.  We baptized their parents, the Gilbert last week.  We have set a baptism date for them, July 19th, so we pray that they will come to church as a family this week.

I LOVE THIS WORK that I am engaged in.  My testimony grows even more as a I search in the Holy scriptures.  I can't believe I am looking at 11 months coming up.  I often wish I was back to when I was in my first area being a brand new missionary!  That's how much I want to have more time in the mission field.

Thank you for signing up to feed the missionaries Mom.  PLEASE continue to feed them:) I love when members call and say they have food for us:))).  Mom, I work out hard in the morning and I make Eld. Woodruff run with me every Tues, Thurs and Sat.  I also have my own workout routine with the resistant bands you sent me in the MTC.

Thanks so much Mom and Dad for all you do.  Send my love to grandma and papa and grandma Brown.  I bet grandma and papa are having a blast in Hawaii and spending time with unko Dallin and family.

Hope everyone has a great week!

With love,
Elder Brown

Ps....Hopefully I'll be able to get into a good dental school but I might get into body building competition when I get home while going to school:)))) I can see you shaking your head Mom hahaha!
