August 18th - Kevin Williams

Wuss-d-scene nah family!

Man looking at all the temple pictures makes me realized how special it really is!  How I wish we have a temple of our own here in our mission.  I guess that's why I am here in this part of the Lord's vineyard to build up His kingdom.

Well, my fast went well.  While I was fasting, I wrote down my purpose on a little sticky note and stuck it in my planner and whenever I felt weak I quickly referred to my planner and regained my spiritual strength.  When the body is weak, that's when the Spirit tells you not to give up.

Man I can't believe I have been out for a year now.  I remember when I was a greeny I marveled at those missionaries who have been out for a year, and what do you know, lol I am here!

Here's a successful story Elder Woodruff and I had this week that I'd like to share with you all.  Remember how I told you last week about Nicola Grieves and how she accepted to be baptized this week, well she dropped us last minute and doesn't want to be baptized any more.  It bothered me that whole day, we don't know what turned her off but it's not a feeling you want to experience as a missionary.  But, that didn't stop us from trying hard to do the work.  One day we visited one of our recent converts and she referred us to her friend, Kevin Williams.  Kevin was adopted by a sailor and was working in a ship and spent most of his time in New York.  Well, he decided to come back to Guyana in searching for his biological family.

So, we met with Kevin and we started to teach him about the Restoration.  He had lot of good questions for us and we were able to answer them all to a point where we were able to commit him to be baptized on August 30th.  Guess what?  Yesterday, Kevin came to church:) After church I asked him, "'hey Kevin, how did you like church?" he then quickly replied, "I didn't like church, I loved it!"  We are so excited for him and the steps he is making towards baptism.  So I truly believe that when one door is closed, the Lord will open another.

This week, we are expecting 2 more baptisms, Romario Peters and Terency Johnson.  I pray that all goes well this week.  We are really determined to "give it our all" this week....like the song from aunty Uinise's family, "the Lord gave his all with all of His heart and so must I."

In closing, I leave with you Moroni 7:45...."And charity suffereth long, and is kind, and envieth not, and is not puffed up, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, and rejoiceth not in iniquity but rejoiceth in the truth, beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things."   If there's anything I have learned on my mission, so far, it's CHARITY.  I love this scripture!

Well family, please be safe and ALWAYS BE MINDFUL OF OUR SAVIOR" throughout your day! Till' next time!

With love,
Elder Brown

P.s....My visa in Guyana lasted only 90 days so I had to take the Ferry to Surinam to renew it.  I went with 4 other missionaries and a senior couple.  Ray is doing much better and coming out of the hospital this week.  If you don't mind it's the purple paisley non-silk tie...thanks Mom!
