July 28th - Spiritual gifts!

Hello my beautiful family!

Awww so nice to see all the Wolfgramm family, I sure do miss them all!  Oh I love the muscle movers pics lol!  Looking good guys!

How was Lawrence's fire knife?  Did he drop?  Haha, better not.  Glad he went out there and dance for the Hosea's.  Good to see 'Isi Sofele!

Well, those are good goals for the ward.  How often the missionaries visit our ward?  Mom and Nana you guys should go out with the missionaries if you ever get the chance.  Member-work is one of the key points in convert baptisms.  It's helping me and my companion so much here in Guyana and I know it will work the same with the missionaries there, so GO OUT AND DO IT!:)

Last week we had an amazing Zone conference.  Oh btw, Elder Woodruff and I will be staying together for another transfer which I'm glad cause we still have lot of work to do here.  Anyway, at Zone conference, Sis. Mehr taught us about the Atonement and SPIRITUAL GIFTS and how we can better use them in our lives.

The question is?  What are some of the spiritual gifts we can use?

1.  Patience
2.  Godly sorrow
3.  Prayer
4.  Gratitude softens the heart
5.  Humility
6. Make promises with the Lord and put into practice

Doing all of these linked to the Atonement of Christ.  The Atonement has the enabling power to become like God.

Then President Mehr talked about Repentance.  He said, " you must recognize your wrongs, feel Godly sorry, confess to what you did wrong, promise to forsake the sin and acknowledge the Savior.

Most of his talk he focused on "Godly sorrow," he then said that Godly sorrow is a spiritual gift.  Many times we don't experience it even after you have confessed your sins.  This is because you were alienated from God.  Spiritual gifts are to purify and sanctify us to be holier.  There was so much more he talked about but this is just a bit I can share due to the time I have.  I learned so much from him and his wife.

Before I ended, just one more I'd like to share about the 5 areas of focus in our mission:

1.  Obedience
2.  Book of Mormon
3.  Preach my gospel
4.  Standard of excellence
5.  Working with the members

At one time during our conference, i was called up to do a role play with Pres. Mehr.  I was nervous at first but I brushed it off and used this opportunity to show how I do contact with people.   President was acting like he was playing football with his kids and I was supposed to challenge him with the Book of Mormon.  Long story short, I had to use my football skill back in high school to handle this challenge which I thought went well than expected..haha!

Well family, this last transfer we ended with 6 baptisms, but I know we could do better.  So far, we are leading our Zone in baptism!  This transfer Elder Woodruff and I are so determined to bring to the fold 10 more souls.  I have faith that we can do this.

President Mehr gave a prophetic promise that if we use the Book of Mormon more in our teaching it will double our baptisms.  We are going to flood Guyana with the Book of Mormon, along with that and allowing the Spirit to teach through us, are the keys to conversion.

Well family I pray that everyone has a great week.  Be safe and have fun:)

With love,
Elder Brown
