September 1st - "Hey Elda Brong, I read the BOM"

Good morning family!

Hey Mom, I'm up early because we are going to Georgetown with the elders to lime around the city and visit the shopping center.  Are you awake yet Mom?

It has been a fun and a successful week for Elder Woodruff and I.  We were able to baptize Brian Linde and Sonya Bhissundial.  As for Derrick Edwards, his mother requested that we push his baptism date to later because she wants to make sure her son is fully ready for this new step in his life.

Last Wednesday was Youth conference for Berbice.  They had some talent show and President Mehr flew in with a few senior couples to help them out.  President Mehr gave a short talk but very profound on the truthfulness of this Church and how the Youth play such an important role in building the Church.  It was really a wonderful conference and quiet effective.

Last week, we connected with a past investigator, Gatesha Daniels, she's 11 years old, very bright and such a good reader.  Anyways, yesterday we saw her on the street and she came running up to us and said, "HEY ELDA BRONG, I READ THE BOOK OF MORMON, when are you coming back to teach us?"   Wow that was music to our ears.  To make long story short, we have committed to baptize her on September 13th.  Amazing how the Lord already provided people to be baptized and all we do is to find them.  As for this young girl, she found us lol!

Well this week is transfer calls (Friday/Saturday).  I really don't want to leave New Amsterdam:( I've been here for 3 months and this place feels like home to me, but I'll go wherever the Lord needs me at.

Oh listen to this, yesterday we were invited to a Hindu wedding.  Boy these weddings are craaaazy lol...tons of food, dancing, chanting and music!  Kinda like how our people are back home lol.

Well, before I go, I would like to leave with you a thought that I have been pondering and studying upon this week..."Perfection entails consecrated effort on a specific problem, consecrated and concentrated."

Here's a little schedule that I try to do and follow daily, perhaps may help most of you as you go through your day:

1.  Identify what your problem/weaknesses are.
2.  Make a list and write them down.
3.  Each morning review your list, particularly noting the problem that you want to work on that day.
4.  At night, report to the Lord on your success and failure.

Family, the power for attaining perfection is in Christ, the fulness of perfection is not attainable in mortality, therefore, learn all you can in this life!

Have a great week everyone, I sure do miss and love you all.

With love,
Elder Brown

P.s....lol @ Fotu, okay Fotu you can be a half body builder like me.  Mom, my pants fit okay, a little lose but still comfortable though.  That's exciting about Elder Jr. Vea coming home today...wow time flies.  I do take my multivitamins so that's why I've never been sick since I got here.  Make sure Lawrence take some on his mission.  It really strengthens the immune system.  Well, I've seen 2 dead bodies on the road and many other scary stuff which I prefer not to discuss, but I don't let these stuff affect my work and my purpose of being here.  Send my love to everyone!  Mom, remember I've deposited money for the Gold...please Mom, don't freak out lol.
